Pure Paws Spa Smoothie – WINTER

WINTER SNOW WHITE is how we love our Team MO girls to look, but with fresh cooked foods and our mud and crud outdoors, it can take some great key products to achieve the WHITE we love. We let Dolce’s face go dirty and naturally stained for awhile to test out the new Pure Paws Whitening Foam. Her face stains from fresh cooked foods and from her saliva. We do NOT use the Pure Paws Whitening Foam near the eyes.

Tear stain products will be reviewed in a future Blog / Vlog.

Our newest favorite product for spot whitening of the long beard or stained paws is Pure Paws Whitening Foam. It is far more effective at whitening the stained beard then all of the previous products we have showed you. Whitening Foam and White Magic are very different applications.

If you need a product to break up the protein stains in the paws, Pure Paws has a Bio-Ensymatic Pretreatment Spray that safely removes protein stains.

In the video we share one of our WINTER WHITE Pure Paws Spa Smoothie mixtures. The winter can bring drier coats for our girls so we mix Amplify Shampoo with Silk Basics Shampoo, or we sometimes use Silk Basics only. We will add a TINY amount of WHITE MAGIC about once every 3-4 baths to help brighten and whiten the girls coats.

The STAR LINE Brightening Shampoo is also a good alternative to the WHITE MAGIC. You can use this alone diluted 1:10 or 1:12, or you can mix this Star Line Brightening Shampoo with the SILK Basics, Amplify or Reconstructing Lines from Pure Paws.

NOTE: Please test on a small patch before using any of the whitening products by Pure Paws. Heavier then normal conditioning is also recommended after using any of the whitening line products.

The White Magic:

A few drops or a 1/4 cap or 1/2 cap can be added to a bath smoothie mixture to give the coat an extra boost of brightening and whitening.

With our White Magic Shampoo, any dog with white hair that needs to look a little whiter and a little brighter is in luck. Pure Paws White Magic Shampoo is a coloring shampoo. It is important to know that when using any bluing shampoo, the coat should be very healthy.If the coat has been altered with any products that pull color such as enzymatic shampoos or bleaching products, the hair shafts with remain open and absorb color more rapidly. Another thing to remember is that the shampoo must be diluted to the point that the suds turn white rather than blue: White Suds=White Coat and Blue Suds=Blue Coat. Also for DOUBLE COATED breeds or other breeds with absorbent coats, the colors take effect much sooner and with more pigment. White Magic is a true whitening shampoo. This shampoo is a semi-permanent color, with a plant derived sufactant base. This whitening shampoo adds shine, controls frizz and prevents tangles and will NOT dry out or damage the coat! NOTE:If this is your first time using the White Magic, we recommend a slightly higher dilution ratio of 10 or 15 parts water to 1 part shampoo. DO NOT let the product sit in the coat until you are more familiar with the product. remember that every coat type has a different porosity and will absorb differently.

The Whitening Foam:

The Whitening Foam is designed to safely remove protein based stains utilizing enzymes, titanium dioxide and violet colorant.

NOTE: Please test patch before using directly on your dog

We at MO like using the Whitening Foam on long beards that are stained and on stained feet. This is NOT MADE for tear stains, so PLEASE AVOID THE EYES.

LOVE MY EYES for TEAR STAINS

We recommend the LOVE MY EYES KIT or the LOVE MY EYES FACE WASH made for TEAR STAINS. We hope to soon shoot a video tutorial on how we use this product. A professional line to eliminate tear stains.

Travel Kits

A Great Way to Try the Whitening Lines

A great way to test out the different PURE PAWS lines is by trying out their TRAVEL KITS. Remember that these are professional products and that you should dilute the shampoos 1 part shampoo to 10-12 parts warm water. The travel kits can last quite a good amount of shampoos with the required dilution.

Blow Drying Brushes Used

Blow drying can make all the difference in how the dog will ultimately look. It is especially important to blow dry correcting before any trimming or clipper work. A great blow dryer and great brushes help make blow drying results great. We LOVE the Chris Christensen wooden pin brush and the wooden slicker brush (Mark II Small Slicker Brush). The wooden pin brush helps avoid any injury when drying around the face. The Mark II Small Slicker brush is AMAZING at pulling the hair straight. Pure Paws also had a slicker brush, which I also LOVE, but they are sold out at the moment.

PREVIEW ~~ Pinky’s Seoul Korean Face Transformation

We did have two camera’s rolling when we shaped Pinky’s face, and we hope to share a full video of how we gave Pinky her Pretty Princess Seoul Transformation as we performed a modernized Korean cut on her TINY Maltese face. The 2 different angles of the camera hopefully captured some of the cutting action. In the meantime, you can enjoy a few shots of her in this SHORT SNEAK PEAK video. The BEAUTIFUL ANGEL IN THE top right hand corner is my daughter and Artistic and Musical Director for Maltese Obsession. She is performing a cello piece accompanied by her piano teacher. It is a sweet haunting ‘FAREWELL’ as Pinky says her farewell to her long beard and OLD style!

Cosette’s NEW Korean Styling ~~ Sprinkle of Seoul ~ Korean Cut

Happy 5th Birthday to my 1st Pet Maltese Cosette. Cosette arrived to us and she has FOREVER changed our lives.

Cosette is who has inspired us to grow MALTESE OBSESSION. Cosette came to us via her AKC Breeder, who had her hand delivered and escorted to us by airplane ride. Cosette was so sweet and smart from the minute we held her in our hands. She was FULLY POTTY trained within the first MONTH. Cosette since then has enjoyed sleeping right next to my rib cage each night in our bed.

Cosette as a puppy NEVER had any eye staining

Cosette can play fetch with a tiny cat ball 24 hours a day if we would engage with her. We stock up on these tiny balls each Christmas as we can never find them any other time of year.

Cosette is ALWAYS Cheerful and CARING! WE LOVE HER!

Cosette has always been in a creative AMERICAN style cut her whole life, but we decided to give her a fresh new look for her 5th Birthday.

We slowly transitioned her to a KOREAN STYLE GROOM.

The reason we transitioned her Korean style cut, is because we wanted to take care to NOT cause unnecessary staining by having the short muzzle hairs poke her in the eyes.

NONE of the hairs ON TOP OF HER NOSE NOR IN BETWEEN HER EYES have been cut in this particular Korean cut. Cosette’s style of Korean cut is VERY different from Tweety’s.

Cosette has some nerves that get her stressed some on the grooming table and other uncomfortable places. She tends to show signs of stress sometimes when she is nervous. Cosette typically dances all over the grooming table as she really finds it nerve wracking to be off the floor. She prefers not even to be held unless she is able to sit on your lap on the couch.

We therefore try to break up her grooming sessions into multiple MINI grooming sessions. If you have a nervous dog, or one that dislikes the grooming process, we recommend splitting up your grooming routine into little MINI SPA Sessions ^_^

One of our favorite brands of maltese hair products is PURE PAWS. I would call it the CHANEL Cosmetics of the dog hair product world as it is used by many show dog professionals.

I bought the GALLON size Pure Paws Ultra Reconstructing Shampoo some years ago and have given friends and family little bottles of it and STILL have enough shampoo for another year. I definitely get my ‘MONEY’s WORTH’ with Pure Paws.

Originally I thought that paying $15-ish for a bottle of dog shampoo was expensive. I went to the SUPER PET Chain stores and bought a cheaper $9.99 bottle of shampoo and found it to be mostly water and I would need 1/3 of the bottle to shampoo my dog. The FRESH BATH smell would hardly last an hour after use. In the video we look at PP Ultra Brightening Shampoo and compare the VISUAL to the Chris Christensen White on White, which falls under the ‘WHITENING’ shampoo category. PP WHITE MAGIC Shampoo vs. CC White on White == as these are both technically ‘WHITENING Shampoos’.

NOTE: The above pictures products are whitening shampoos WITHOUT BLEACHING agents., but rather using OPTICAL BRIGHTENERs. Exactly the way one would PHOTOSHOP a yellowish and dull image == you would add BLUE to the picture and the yellow’s would OPTICALLY appear whiter, while the darker colors would appear RICHER! On the COLOR WHEEL:

Too bad there isn’t a green shampoo to test out against RED tear stains. In the COSMETIC world of ‘deleting’ blemish marks with CONCEALERS, we use green concealer to hide a red acne blemish. Those of us who want to delete our BLUE under eye bags must use ORANGE to cancel out the dark blue circles under out eyes!

I guess these BLUE shampoos are the CONCEALERS for our dogs to cancel out the ugly unwanted and dingy YELLOWS to produce Snow WHITE Maltese coats.

The PP White Magic is claimed to be a ‘semi permanent color’. I didn’t feel the need for such a strong whitening shampoo for my dogs, thus I have always only used the ‘Ulta Brightening’ Shampoo, when I have need to remove mild grass or urine stains.

Pure Paws Silk Basics Line:

Two beauties McCartney and Bimmer recently alerted me to a newer PP line == Silk Basics. McCartney and Bimmer are always impeccably groomed and have very healthy and glossy coats, so I decided to give this newer PP Silk Basics line a try.

I have to say that even after just one try, I really enjoyed the outcome that this Silk Basic line produced for the coats of my maltese. Again, this Silk Basics line must be diluted 1:8 (one part shampoo to 8-10 parts warm water), thus making it a very good value at $21 for 16 oz.

The Silk Basics Shampoo as shown here is CLEAR and has no color, with a very pleasant clean scent to it.

My EYES tell me that the coat may become WHITER after using the Ultra Reconstructing or the Ultra Brightening shampoo when compared to the Silk Basics. My EYES tell me that the coat seems SHINIER using the Silk Basics, however the less whitening effect it may have.

My NOSE tells me that the dog smells clean and fresh, with a very ‘YUMMY & LONG LASTING CLEAN’ smell.

NOTE: If your Maltese has SENSITIVE, DRY or ITCHY skin == I would recommend the PURE PAWS Oatmeal and Aloe Vera Shampoo. Oatmeal has been identified as having anti-itch properties and there is no doubt that Aloe Vera has therapeutic properties on skin. I WOULD NOT recommend the ULTRA line for any dogs with sensitive, dry or itchy skin!

STEP 1: FACE: Wet face and apply SPA Lavish Facial scrub to face, taking care not to get into the eyes == leave this product on face and beard == Do not rinse yet
